Rediscover Purpose, Belonging, and Usefulness
Remember how it felt when you were doing important and useful work applying your skills and know-how in your profession and former work life? Here at North Bend Senior Center we have opportunities to apply the skills and know-how that we accumulated over a lifetime to activities that keep this senior center running. We make this effort in order to improve our own well-being as well as that of seniors in our community. By supporting the senior center with our presence, participation, and efforts, we give other seniors a place to go where they themselves find opportunities to be active, to socialize, to make use of their own skills and know-how, and continue living an engaged and fulfilling life of purpose.
We would most welcome your participation in this endeavor. Come to the North Bend Senior Center to see how you might fit in here, and keep an eye on this website and on the bulletin board at the senior center, where we post notices about current projects and volunteer opportunities.

The senior center is seeking to establish a team of state-certified bingo manager backup persons who would serve as an on-call resource should the need arise for a backup manager to step in and assume bingo game manager responsibilities at the bingo games.
It is a challenging task to become a state-certified bingo game manager. It requires the study of the State of Oregon's 272-page Charitable Gaming Manual, and the applicant must pass a certification test administered by the State of Oregon.
Anyone interested in this opportunity can contact the senior center's director Adeline to find out more about the requirements to become a state-certified bingo game manager.

We are considering increasing the number of bingo games on our activities calendar by adding mid-week bingo games to the schedule. We can do this only if we have more people available to assist at the bingo games. With enough people involved as assistants, the task would not require too much of any one person's time.
Helping at the bingo games is an essential activity that supports the senior center and everyone who participates in senior center activities. It is also a very social activity that will keep you meeting and interacting with a lot of people.
If you would like to help out at the bingo games, please contact our director Adeline or our president Michael to learn more about the bingo game assistant opportunity.

We now have a professional chef preparing meals in our kitchen, and the board of directors is adding more lunches and dinners to the activities schedule, which is increasing the need for helpers.
Ideally, we would like to have a team of six to 12 or more kitchen helper volunteers available to call on to help once or twice a month. With a team of that size, no one would be asked to assist at events too often.
If you are looking for ways to be involved at the senior center, and if you think you would enjoy helping out in the kitchen and at events, please let our director Adeline or our president Michael know of your interest.

The senior center provides ongoing activities and events of interest to seniors. To keep our programs happening on schedule, we need activity leaders and also backup activity leaders who can fill in when a regular leader is not available to lead a class. Thus, we have an ongoing need for volunteers to organize and lead our activities.
If you have an interest in leading a class, or if you have an idea for a class or activity that is not currently on our schedule, please contact our president or director to share your ideas. Call or come into the office during regular business hours and share your ideas about leading or teaching a class or activity that matches your skills and interests.

We are in need of community-minded individuals who have experience dealing with the public, government agencies, and private businesses, and who can devote an hour or two each week, or a little time each month, to represent the senior center at community events and meetings to help us grow our outreach efforts. We would really appreciate your participation.
If you have an interest in serving as a community outreach coordinator, please contact our president or director to learn more about this opportunity to help at the North Bend Senior Center.
